Annika Kahrs: Hamburger Bahnhof on Tour

Annika Kahrs, Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop2026

Berlin-based artist Annika Kahrs presents the most comprehensive selection of her works to date at Hamburger Bahnhof, exploring the intersection of art and music. Kahrs investigates the cultural and social functions of music: in an abandoned church in Lyon, at the parade of a cross-generational orchestra in an Italian village or in Berlin department stores.

In spring 2026, Annika Kahrs' exhibition will feature a performance programme that will present an overview of the artist's performances from the past 16 years for the first time. In these works, Kahrs also questions musical structures as well as codes and parameters of music production, performance practice and listening habits. By challenging virtuosity and deliberately dissolving traditional forms, she creates a new understanding of musical experience.

The Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop will perform works by Annika Kahrs on three evenings.
The performances form part of the event series “Hamburger Bahnhof On Tour“. With this series, marking its 30th anniversary, the museum places a special focus on collaboration and exchange with other cultural partners across Berlin.
