Van den vos
The story of the fox… by and with FC Bergman, text by Josse De Pauw and music by Liesa van der Aa & Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop.
… the fog hangs low. In the cloudy light, time passes slowly. Something shoots out past the plants and disappears. The fog grows thicker and fills the woods with a dense cloud. He steps as if lost through the smog, feels his way through the wood. The forest creaks and whispers. He wades through the ferns and cautiously calls Fox’s name and it sounds like, “Fox!” and “Fox?”. And the ferns whisper along with him…
The theater collective FC Bergman from Antwerp has quickly become known for its sumptuous imagery. Previous productions introduced radical new interpretations of La Divina Commedia and the Old Testament; the newest piece is a reflection on a classic text from the Middle Ages, Van den vos Reynaerde (Renard the Fox). The fable provides the basis for this show, which portrays Man as a fretful, indecisive creature whose search for completion and gratification leads inevitably towards the chasm of eternity.
