Palimpsest

After Mud and Decay, Tilman Kanitz - member of Kaleidoskop and mastermind of BASMNR - deals in Palimpsest with the overwriting, the shining through and the simultaneity of past and present thoughts and emotions. While Decay was about exploring the unspeakable, Palimpsest deals with the utopian notion of the self and its decay. Visually, this process is shown in a scenic suggestion on the stage of Eva Kotatkovas' exhibition Anatomical Orchestra. This quasi-static moment is carried by Dufay's music and works by composers Mathias Spahlinger, Marc Andre, Peter Ablinger and Christoph Herndler. The acoustic skeleton of Palimpsest is an electronic composition by BASMNR (Ole Brolin/Tilman Kanitz). It moves through the infinity of white noise, disappears behind the microtonally organized noise and noise sounds of contemporary works, and reappears with Dufay's music.
