Concert
In May 2022, Kaleidoskop devotes itself to research for upcoming projects and prepares new collaborations. At a concert in the St. Matthäus Church in the Kulturforum, the ensemble will give an insight into its current musical work. In the space currently designed by artist Edith Dekyndt, Kaleidoskop will present works by Gloria Coates, Meredith Monk and Zygmunt Krauze, among others, on June 03.
St. Matthäus Church is a venue in the Kulturforum, a lively cultural space that regularly hosts events and changing exhibitions. Parallel to the concert on June 03, the work "Concentrated Form of Non-Material Energy" by Edith Dekyndt can be seen.
At the concert on June 03, Kaleidoskop will present works by two distinguished female composers, among others: The "String Quartet No. 5" by Gloria Coates opens up a unique sound cosmos with its complex glissandi. With songs from "Book of Days" by Meredith Monk, Kaleidoskop will also introduce some purely vocal pieces.
The concert will also focus on the composition "Aus aller Welt Stammende" by Polish composer Zygmunt Krauze. This rarely performed work for 10 string players will be performed by Kaleidoskop together with violinist Maria Stępień, who as a member of the Radical Polish Ansambl has dedicated herself to the interpretation of traditional and experimental Polish music.
In September, Kaleidoskop will make the far-flung spaces of the Hoffmann Collection resound. The works from the June 3 concert will be heard again in new contexts during these performances and will enter into a dialogue with the artworks.
