Into the Dark: Words and Music
By Samuel Beckett and Morton Feldmann with Hanns Zischler, Shaun Lawton and Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop.
Words and Music is a radio play in the lightless space of Samuel Beckett and Morton Feldman. In a conflicted three-way relationship of the broken tyrant Croak (Shaun Lawton), with his servants Bob (soloist ensemble Kaleidoscope) and Joe (Hanns Zischler), the play personifies man's longing for solace in the interplay of words and music.
The radio play is part of the Into the Dark series, in which director Sabrina Hölzer tests the effect of music in a lightless space in various performances. In the former Funkhaus Berlin Nalepastrasse, the listeners experience an acoustic production of words and music that seem to surround them disembodied.
