I AM ALL EARS
The MaerzMusik finale, again co-curated by Wojtek Blecharz, interrogates architecture, space, movement and sound. At Haus der Berliner Festspiele, this new chapter of I AM ALL EARS asks how we might unsettle normative ways of presenting and experiencing music. The performativity of the sterile space and the meta-composition thesis come into view. The theatre opens beyond its formal stage to backstage corridors, staircases, and rooms – spaces that cultural workers who sustain the institution inhabit. The building itself becomes a listening body.
There will be many ways to experience the final concert-installation, and listeners’ bodies will be set in motion, liberated from the traditional audience setting. I AM ALL EARS will feature sound sculptures, live musicians, a multidirectional listening session, a series of ear-overtures, a fully embodied sound experience, and a collective somatic listening practice.
