Hardcore 2
With the concert installation Hardcore, the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop literally presented the 'hard core' of the ensemble, the pure string formation, at Ballhaus Naunynstraße in 2007. The production by French artist Aliénor Dauchez laid the foundation for the ensemble's performative work.
Hardcore explores the relationship of music to space, of the individual musician to the group, and of the audience to the ensemble. The different works, which seamlessly follow each other as a montage, are played from different positions, so that for the audience there is a constant change of closeness and distance to the musicians*. The musicians move in an elliptical orbit around the audience. The musical mesh and the spatial constellations lead the spectator through the most diverse states.
In June 2010, Hardcore 2 is an inventory of the ensemble. With Hardcore 2 Kaleidoskop resumes its atomic program. It is about fusion and fission. The particles assume different states. The individual ensemble molecules interact in and out of the group. The ensemble is enriched with works by György Ligeti, James Tenney and Ludwig van Beethoven, and in the course of the evening is divided by compositions by Marc Sabat, Henry Purcell, Enno Poppe, Iannis Xenakis and Georg Philipp Telemann.
