Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop2007

With the concert installation Hardcore, the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop literally wants to present the 'hard core' of the ensemble, the pure string formation. As a guest, the French artist Aliénor Dauchez will design the concert space and work choreographically with the musicians. The presence of the musicians in the space and the spatial effect of the music will be in the foreground.

The selected works represent the core repertoire of Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop: baroque music vs. new music. Despite a wide variety of tonal languages, all the works in this program montage share a reference to the supposedly 'beautiful' in music. Thus the symphonies of Bach's sons Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel, works that far exceeded the usual expressive content of their time (and still sound revolutionary today) and already anticipated Romanticism. These symphonies are juxtaposed with the distinctly tonal works of Claude Vivier, Peteris Vasks, James Dillon and Jennifer Walshe.

Hardcore, here in the sense of music that tries to penetrate purely to the core of the human being, of sensation and hearing.
